Next, we come up with a game plan and implement some first steps of management and training.
All consultations come with a detailed summary with resources and a recommended plan as well as email support afterwards.
We check in and assess how things are progressing.
We move to the next steps towards accomplishing your goals with your dog through hands-on training exercises.
All training sessions come with an updated written
summary with resources and recommendations for moving forward.
Consistency and repetition are KEY to successful behavior change!

FAQ's About Private Training
Is private training right for me?
Private training is helpful because the training plan and support are tailored to you, your dog, and your specific needs and goals.
Because it is conducted in your home, it is very helpful for behavior modification of behavior issues specific to your home environment and/or daily outings.
Private training can also be a more successful training setup than group classes for dogs who are fearful or become easily distracted in busy settings.
Because it is one-on-one, every moment of the session is focused on helping you and your dog achieve your goals and understand each other.
What does the training process look like?
The first step is a consultation (60-90 minutes, in-home or online) where we get to know each other. I go over how my training works and how you can get the most out of working with me.
We then go into detail about you, your dog, and what you are looking for help with. We come up with an initial management and training plan to get you to your goals. I often will show you some initial training exercises with your dog.
I send a follow-up summary email with all of my recommendations.
All following sessions are 1 hour and include a detailed follow-up emailed training plan and ongoing support.
How many training sessions will my dog need?
This varies greatly depending on your training goals, your dog’s personality and training history, and the amount of time and effort you are able to put towards practicing.
During sessions with me, I work with you and your dog to show you how to get started on training new behaviors. From there, it is up to you to put the training plan into practice in your daily life.
Some clients receive the initial plan guidelines from me at the consultation and conduct the majority of the training on their own. Other clients like having more hands-on support from me.
Sessions can be spaced out in a variety of ways depending on what works best for each client. Sessions can be purchased one at a time or through a package.
What type of methods do you use?
Do you have a cancellation policy?
Yes, all client cancellations for private sessions with less than 48-hour notice can be subject to being charged for the full lesson fee.
Single-pack sessions expire after 30 days
3-pack sessions expire 90 days after purchase.
6 and 8 pack sessions expire 6 months after purchase.
Package sessions and group classes are nonrefundable.
When we begin working together, you will be asked to review and sign my full list of policies on my Client Services Agreement Document.
Can you come to my home for training?
I have 2 or more dogs at home. Do they need separate consultations and/or is there an added fee?
Do you guarantee results?
What Our Clients Say
Kristen is a WONDERFUL trainer! We and our dog love her. She takes lots of time to gather information and get to know the dog and family, and any issues that are in play. She gave us really helpful and personalized strategies and tips, and emailed summaries after each session (SO helpful!). I also really appreciate Kristen’s background and education – she is the most educated trainer with the most expertise that I could find in our area and it shows in her work! Her fees are very reasonable and she is lovely to work with. We highly recommend her!!
