Fearful and Aggressive Dogs

Dogs With Fear And Aggression

Helping You Understand Your Dog—and Helping Your Dog Feel Safe

What I Work On

Living with a fearful or aggressive dog can feel overwhelming, but you’re not alone, and your dog isn’t “bad.” Behavior is communication, and I’m here to help you understand what your dog is trying to say and how you can help them.

I work with dogs of all breeds, ages, and backgrounds on issues such as:

  • Fear of people, other dogs, or specific environments

  • Resource guarding (protecting food, toys, or spaces)

  • Aggression toward people or animals

  • Leash reactivity (barking, lunging, growling on walks)

  • Handling sensitivities (grooming, vet visits, touch)

  • Senior dogs experiencing new behavior changes due to pain or cognitive decline

Whether your dog is growling, hiding, lunging, or shutting down, we’ll work together to uncover the root of the behavior and build a plan that supports lasting change, without the use of fear or force.

Step 1.
Initial Consult, 90 Minutes | $200

We get to know each other! I explain my philosophy and methods. We discuss your dog’s history, personality, the issues you are experiencing, and what your training goals are.

Next, we come up with a game plan and implement some first steps of management and training.

All consultations come with a detailed summary with resources and a recommended plan.

Step 2.
Follow Up Sessions, 60 Minutes | $150

We check in and assess how things are progressing.

We move to the next steps towards accomplishing your goals with your dog through hands-on training exercises.

All follow-up sessions come with an updated summary with resources and recommendations for moving forward.

My Training Philosophy

At Perked Ears, I believe that fear-based behavior deserves a fear-free response.

I use science-based, humane training methods that prioritize safety, trust, and clear communication. Positive reinforcement isn’t just a technique—it’s a mindset. It means we look beyond the surface of a behavior to understand the emotion driving it, and we work to change that emotional state through support, not suppression.

I will never use tools or methods that cause pain, fear, or intimidation. That means no prong collars, no e-collars, no alpha rolls—just thoughtful, customized plans rooted in modern behavioral science and compassion. When dogs feel safe, they can learn. When guardians feel supported, they can grow. That’s what drives my work.

If you’re struggling with your dog’s behavior, you don’t have to navigate it alone. I’m here to help you make sense of what’s happening, give you practical tools that align with your values, and support both you and your dog on the path toward confidence and calm.
